Untitled No.17

This is from a body of work which produced of several years, and the only tools used were my trust Rotring pens, a ruler & french curves.

There comes a point when you discover your own space which defines who you are. At the point in time I produced these images I was going through a very dark patch, and if you have ever had the misfortune to have suffered from depression you will be able to understand. As part of the course I retreated into my drawings, and found a side of me I had no idea was there.

For one reason or other I can no longer do this sort of work. Partly due to the strain on the eyes, and partly due to the mind not wanting to go back to this time. I am comfortable with this work, and have a certain pride in my accomplishments, but it is a chapter in my artistic life which will remain closed.

The work is all free-hand without via a ruler, and there was never any thought as to presice measurements, so happy accidents occurred along the way as part of the process.

I would suggest that you vie in full mode as the work does not lend itself well to being shrunk.
